    Hello Tracey,

Thank you very much for sharing such a powerful poem with the CW Podcast Forum! I was struck by the poignant message behind the work, and the way the speaker addresses that condemning gaze. I found the length of the piece fascinating, almost as if we have to keep pace with the speaker’s thoughts whilst they uncover the emotions which accompany their journey. Would you feel comfortable to discuss your process of writing? Did you return to this particular piece over time, or was it written during one sitting?

    Best Wishes,
    Hollie

    Hello Raviteja,

Thank you so much for this wonderful contribution! The way you explore the subject of redemption is fascinating, and thank you for including a comment on the source of your inspiration. Do you write poetry often?

    Best Wishes, Hollie

    Hello Alzat,

Thank you very much for sharing your poem with the podcast forum! I was particularly struck by the lines ‘Some just a tone, Understated pastels’ – the way you examine the fashioning of the voice is striking! It is wonderful that Dr. Kevin’s poetry inspired such a brilliant piece!

The connection to Tuesday with Morrie is interesting – the idea that rituals surrounding breakfast can impact the individual’s emotions for the rest of the day is often overlooked, but here we find two thought-provoking pieces commenting on just that!

Thank you very much for sharing your poetry with the forum – we look forward to hearing from you in the future!

    Hello Alzat,

Thank you for your thoughtful response to the episode!

It is wonderful that you can relate to Dr. Kevin’s experience in terms of writing, and taking on the role of the ‘voyeur’. The way you describe your own writing process is fascinating – the influence of experience and paying attention to the voice of others sounds like a holistic approach to poetry! If you feel comfortable, it would be wonderful if you could share some of your own poems with the podcast via the discussion forum!

I found the comparison to Tuesdays With Morrie interesting – I would love to know more about what inspired this connection?

    Hello Ben,

Thank you for another brilliant contribution!

The way you explore the process of the poet and the influence of experience on writing is haunting. The idea of resemblance as a means of recognizing the emotion of others is moving. The sense of hope through understanding and personal growth in the opening lines was striking, particularly when re-reading the final lines!

    Hello Gerald,

Thank you for your response, and for providing the original in Swahili! The poem is extremely powerful, does the rest of your collection share a similar theme?

May I ask what is the name of your poetry collection so that we may share it with the forum?

in reply to: University of Chester: Binu Rani Albert

Hello Ben, thank you for your response to Binu’s contribution! I completely agree, there is an element of Plath’s confessional poetry in Kas’s ‘The Suicide’.

Thank you for your response! You mentioned that you had a singing part in the Windrush 2021 anthem organised by Pegasus Opera company, how did you find this experience?

In terms of your inspiration as a writer, do you draw from other Jamaican poets? Or, do you have favourite poem from Jamaica you would like to share?

Hello Rob, I am fascinated that the source of your inspiration was the nineteenth-century author, poet, and painter Edward Lear. I wanted to know whether you could speak to the development of the characters in your own poem?

Hello Colleen, what a wonderful poem celebrating the cultural diversity within the commonwealth! What was the initial inspiration for the piece?
